The Dressing Room Wins Another National Award!

The Dressing Room in St albans picked up the prize for Best Accessories offer (independent and Multiple) at last night’s Drapers Footwear & Accessories Awards, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane.

Last night the winners of the Drapers Footwear & Accessories Awards 2012 were announced at the Grosvenor Hotel, London. This year we broadened the programme to include accessories for the first time to reflect the sheer diversity of the industry and the evening was a huge success.

Caroline Nodder, Editor-in-Chief of Drapers commented on the thorough judging process:

“We go to great lengths to make sure we are rigorous throughout the entry and judging process to ensure our eventual winners can be truly proud of their achievement. Our expert team of journalists carry out store visits for all our independent and multiple retailer entries, and scrutinise their websites, so they can report back at the judging days and make sure the entries are true to the customer experience.”

Thank you to our judges who had the difficult decisions deciding our winners after a record number of entries.
What the judges said about The Dressing Room ‘The range of Accessories that our winner has, and the way they have been merchandised, make this a standout winner in this category.  This  shop has ensured that accessories are now a core part of its business strategy and it continues to introduce new and exciting brands.’

Owner of The Dressing Room, Deryane Tadd says ‘Winning a National award for our accessories collections is fantastic for an independent business.  We were up against huge multiples such as Marks and Spencer and Debenhams, so to win this is amazing.  It is great to receive recognition on a national level for the hard work, passion and dedication that we put into the business.  It is important that independent retailers are recognised for the part that we play in making the UK high streets such an interesting place to shop, and this award is recognition of that.’

The awards ceremony was hosted by former model and TV presenter Emma Willis. Guests were treated to a drinks reception followed by an after party with a live DJ, Casino sponsored by Xti and a photo booth sponsored by Base London to snap memorable moments throughout the night!
Harvey Jacobson scooped the coveted Outstanding Contribution to Footwear Award, well deserved considering it is estimated that he sells somewhere in the region of just over 10 million pairs of shoes every year!

Congratulations to all winners, they were truly deserved. The whole of the Drapers Footwear & Accessories Awards team wish you another great year ahead.
